It also discusses the shift toward effectiveness evaluation, preparing institutions for the 2027/2028 FATF regional body visit, the nature of the Mauritian anti-money laundering framework, which has been significantly influenced by PEPs and the recent legislative changes regarding beneficial ownership transparency and fines for non-compliance, obligation on all legal persons to prevent financial crimes, and emphasizes the need for directors to address emerging risks and potential greenwashing, risk appetite and how they must prepare for increased regulatory scrutiny.
